CONGRATULATIONS to the Urban Soils Judging Team consisting of Emma Shellhammer, Jocelyn Kevengood, Hannah Fought, and Gaige Hess played 5th in the District and have qualified to attend the State Contest on 10/12. The Rural Soil Judging Team consisting of Derian Arbogast, Alicia Gomez, Carlee DEll, Emma Kidd, and Abby DAniel placed 17th in the district.
Blood Drive: Would you like to give to your community? become a blood donor! The first blood drive fo the year is scheduled for Wednesday, October 16th from 8:30-2:00 pm. As always, the Red Cross is in great need of blood donors. Donors must be at least 16 by October 16th. Sign up to donate in Mrs. Jury's room or contact Mrs. Bodart.
Sports Physicals: Physicals will be held on October 16th at 3:00 pm in the locker room area. The cost is $15. Forms can be printed online from Final Forms
Immunization Records: The school is required by law to have a copy of all 7th and 12th grader's new immunization shot records verifying shots are up to date. Please send those records to us NOW. We have to report by October 15th that all 7th and 12th-grade students had the required shots this year. If you are unsure if your student is on the list of not compliant, please call the school office. This is only for 7th and 12th graders.
Parking spots: For those who signed up and paid ~ The official Paint Day starts Saturday, October 5th after the football game. Painting is also on Sunday, Oct 6 from 1:00 - 5:00 (Rain date Sunday Oct., 13.) This will be a fun day! Snacks will be provided, music will be playing, and bottled water will be available throughout the day. Please note that painting is only permitted at this specified day and time.
~ Additionally, any students who do not have plans to paint their own parking space are encouraged to help a friend and/or student council paint a few areas on each end of the student parking lot with Chieftain Spirit! See Mrs. Jury to sign up as a volunteer!
Fifth Quarter - Students in grades 7-12 are invited to the all NEW Fifth Quarter after Friday's home football games. Fifth Quarter is located at Hopewell Church of God on County rd 48 immediately following the game, until 11:00 pm. BIG NEWS every time you attend Fifth Quarter this year, you will be entered into a drawing for the chance to win an outing for you and four friends to visit the Haunted Hydro and escape rooms in Fremont, OH. The more times you attend the Fifth Quarter, the better your chances of winning this $100 prize.
Sports passes -are available now in the office. Adults are $50 for $10 punches and Students are $30 for 10 punches. Save money and buy your sports pass in the office.
Final Forms - Please access Final Forms ASAP and update and sign all documents, as a parent and student. It's very important to always keep this information accurate and current as this is the emergency contact information we use, as well as all mailing labels, get generated with the information you provide when we mail out report cards, notes, and letters throughout the school year.

Student Parking Permits - All students that drive to school must park in the student parking lot and have a 2019-2020 parking permit displayed on the rearview mirror. Parking permits are handed out in the school office.

Attention grades 9-12 next year if you are interested in taking classes through College Credit Plus, there will be an information meeting here at the high school on November 7, 2019, @ 6:00 pm in the Auditeria. Holly Cipriani from Bowling Green State University will be here presenting the information and representatives from Findlay, Owens Community College, Terra Community College, Heidelberg University, and Tiffin University will be available to answer individual questions after the meeting. HOBY - 2020 Hugh O'Brien Youth Leadership. What: HOBY, The Hugh O'Brien Youth Leadership is one of the oldest and most prominent youth leadership organizations in the world. The seminar is for a student who feels they are a strong leader, has the courage to speak up their beliefs, has concern for others, and is interested in improving their skills in critical thinking, goal setting, and would like to realize the importance of enhancing their leadership skills. WHO: Current Sophomores WHEN: Approximately June 6-9, 2020 - you must be able to stay the entire time. The exact date will come out on November 16, 2019, WHERE: Ohio Northern University for more information, visit www.hoby.org. Sophomores & Juniors: October 16th, 2019 PSAT test will be given at H-L. If you are a junior taking the test you have the opportunity to be eligible for the National Merit Scholarship. It is a good practice for the ACT & SAT test. If you would like more information or to sign up see Mrs. Hendrix. The cost of the test is $17.00.
Seniors - you are required to have 20 hours of Community Service for Graduation. Those hours are due no later than March 13, 2020. Please turn those into Mrs. Hendrix or Mrs. Hoffman. If you are struggling to get service hours please see Mrs. Hendrix. Also, stop and see Mrs. Hoffman for dates/times of concession stand.
