When calling in a student absence please use our 24-hour absence line 419-937-2802 and leave your name, students name, grade and the reason for the absence. When your student returns to school, a note with the dates of absence, the reason for the absence, and parent signature must be turned in to the office.

**If you haven't filled out your emergency information as well as the rest of the school forms from the beginning of the year online at Final Forms, please do so ASAP! Any changes please keep Final Forms updated at all times such as address, phone numbers, and contact information, it is very important we have current information on every student here at H-L. CONGRATULATIONS TO THE LADY CHIEFTAINS WINNING THE DISTRICT CHAMPIONSHIP on Saturday night. They will play in the Regional Semifinal game on Thursday at 8:00 pm in Elida, OH.

CONGRATULATIONS to our High School Concert Band for earning a "Superior" rating at District Large Group Adjudicated Event on Saturday. The band will take the opportunity to participate in the State event on Friday, April 20th at Gahanna Lincoln High School. Our High School Concert Choir earned an "Excellent" rating also at the event. Congratulations to them all!

CONGRATULATIONS to Kiley Stahl. She placed 5th in the State Advance Prepared Creed Speaking Competition. Great Job Kylie!

Pre Sale tickets for the H-L Girls Regional Semifinal game Thursday at 8 pm will be on sale in the school office all day Tuesday and Wednesday and until noon on Thursday. Regional tickets are all $7 pre-sale and $8 at the gate.

TONIGHT - The Spring Sports Athlete and Parent meeting will be held Monday, March 5th at 7:00 pm in the Auditeria. All Spring Athletes in grades 7-12 and their parents need to attend.

Our annual Ian Kuhn Dodgeball Tournament will be held on Friday afternoon, March 16th. Students can sign up this week in study hall with Mrs. Hoffman! We are taking the first 18 teams. The cost is $20 per team. Deadline to register is Friday by 3:00 pm.

Teams must have 10 players and at least 4 must be girls.

Last year, we raised approximately $350. Our goal this year is $500. Please help us reach our goal by dropping money in the donation jar at the gym doors. All money collected goes towards the scholarship fund in Ian Kuhn's name.

Thanks for your help in promoting this very fun event. 

Cheerleading - There will be a cheer tryout meeting for anyone in current grades 6-11 interested in cheering football or basketball for next year. The meeting is March 12th at 6:00 pm in the Auditeria.

Jostens - Seniors, the deadline to order your cap and gown is March 31st in order to guarantee delivery by graduation. You can place your order at or call 800-JOSTENS

Last year, an average of 3 people died per day in car crashes. Knowledge is the only way to combat these tragedies. In an effort to make our students more aware of dangers associated with driving, H-L will host a "Mock Crash" scenario on Thursday, May 10th (rain date Friday, March 11th). Please be aware that the EMS from Bascom and New Riegel, local fire departments, State Highway Patrol Officers, Seneca County Sheriff's Department, Seneca County Echo Unit, Harrold Floriana Funeral Home, and St. Vincent's Life Flight will be on site for this event. Mark your calendars for this important event that will demonstrate how decisions that drivers make can have a lasting impact.

A Scholarship for the Ohio Teens Institute Leadership Conference is available in the office or students can fill out online using the link on the H-L homepage. Deadline for the scholarship is April 6th.

Seniors - Class of 2018 Class trip meeting is on Wednesday, March 7th at 6:30 pm in the Auditeria. Everyone must attend with a parent.

JH Track - will have conditioning next Thursday and Friday from 3-4:30 for any athlete interested.

Blood Drive - Hopewell - Loudon High School Scarlet Gym Wednesday, March 7, 2018, 8:30 AM to 2:00 PM. Appointments can be scheduled with Mrs. Bodart. You must be 16 years old to donate with a signed parental permission form. Must have a valid driver's license or Photo I.D.

Save the Date! The Seneca County Opportunity Center's Annual Celebrity Basketball Game will be at Heidelberg's Seiberling Gym on March 20th at 7:00 pm.  The night is dedicated in honor of the Rainey Family. 

Reminder: Speed Camp is held every Saturday at 9 am in the Chieftain Gym. All athletes in grades 7-12 are welcome.

Weight room for non-winter sports will be open Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday after school.

Seniors: Wednesday, March 21, 2018, seniors are invited to attend a Job Fair at Columbian High School from 12:00-2:30 pm. If you are interested in being excused to attend this job fair, please see Mrs. Hendrix in the guidance office.

Seniors: Reminder that you need to turn in 20 hours of community service for graduation, this is a REQUIREMENT. There are still many students with NO hours documented. We have the paperwork in the office that you need to fill out, if you have any questions please see Mrs. Hendrix in the guidance office. These hours are due NO LATER THAN March 9, 2018.

Seniors: Please look at the scholarship page, it has been updated. the following scholarships have been added/updated. Cameron Joseph St. Clair Memorial Scholarship. Hopewell-Loudon Education Association Scholarship - there is a change to this scholarship for this year only seniors can apply for the HL Education scholarship and be considered for two scholarships. The second one being the Mary Ruth Crandall scholarship.

Attention Juniors: On March 7, 2018, at Heidelberg University from 12:30-2:00 there will be a higher education day. If you are undecided about college this would be a good event to attend. This will be an excused absence, please see Mrs. Hendrix in the guidance office to sign up.

Fall 2018 Vaccinations, it is required for all incoming Seniors to have the Quadrivalent meningococcal conjugate vaccine before school starts.  All incoming 7th graders are required to have one dose of Tdap and Meningitis vaccine before school starts. Please plan on scheduling your child's appointment today to ensure they are up-to-date on the vaccines they need before school starts in August.

Please do not open doors for anyone trying to enter the building...other students, parents, visitors, delivery people etc. Please direct them to enter the office doors. This is a very important part of our security for our building.
